"Marketing" Isn't a Bad Word

“Marketing” gets a bad rap.

It’s sleazy, and it makes you sound arrogant. It’s a lot of work that doesn’t feel worth the time, money, and effort.

Small businesses and solopreneurs don’t want to market themselves because they think marketing feels gross and disingenuous; they’re scared of putting themselves out there, being pushy, and attracting haters; they don’t have the time or skills to do it; or they just hate social media.

More established businesses have their marketing on autopilot and don’t have the time, resources, or energy to grow and evolve.

Bad marketing can also turn people off from wanting to market themselves. It can feel like you’re screaming into the void and getting lost in the slop.

I believe that the power of storytelling, creativity, and human connection are missing in a lot of marketing. My mission is to bring those qualities back. There’s more to marketing than salesy ads and navigating social media algorithms. Marketing is about communicating and connecting.

When you truly care about what you do, your marketing reflects that. Your mission shines through. Your customers and clients come to you because they understand, value, and trust you.

When you know who you are as a brand, and you’re committed to your Why, marketing becomes a way of authentically sharing your mission and story with the world. And when you have a good understanding of your target audience, you know whom you’re talking to and how to talk to them. You’re able to build connections that foster a sense of loyalty and keep your customers and clients coming back.

Mission-driven businesses (those who love what they do) love to work with me because I listen to them and understand their passion, and I offer unique solutions to help them tell their stories and share their missions in an authentic and meaningful way.
